We’re halfway through our Gardening Speaker Series and wanted to check in with you all! Have you made it out to SpiritWorks for either of the first two lectures? If not—don’t worry! We recorded both and will be posting the videos to our YouTube channel soon. If you haven’t subscribed yet, check us out at @SpiritWorksTrilogy-MT.
This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of hosting Mark Cometti from Flathead Permaculture, and it was such a special experience. Being surrounded by community members who are passionate about permaculture and eager to grow their own food filled the classroom space with energy. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us—your excitement and shared wisdom created an inspiring atmosphere. Watching ideas spark other ideas and knowledge flow between Mark and attendees truly filled our hearts. We hope you left with a fresh vision for your gardens, farms, or landscapes.
Two Free Lectures Still to Come
This Thursday at 5:30 PM, we’re back with another free talk! Steve Glutting will be teaming up with SpiritWorks staff member Anna Prestegaard to explore the world of native bees. Steve will share practical tips for supporting bee populations in your own backyard, while Anna will offer ideas for pollinator-friendly herbs to plant. You’ll also learn a bit about the medicinal benefits of those herbs—because we believe gardens should nourish pollinators and people (that means you!).
Our final lecture in the series will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 5:30 PM. For the last hoorah in this series, Joe Clark will share his insights on biochar—a powerful, sustainable soil amendment you may want to add to your gardening toolkit.
More Free Learning Opportunities
We’re also excited to announce the return of our staff presentations, which kicked off for the season this Monday! This year, we’re opening up the floor to expand the range of topics and encourage our team to follow their curiosities and passions. In addition to our classic deep dives into single herbs, you might hear talks on herbal medicine for pets, sourdough baking, specific farming techniques or experiments, and more. The topics will change each week, so there’s always something new to learn.
Save These Dates...
🌍 Saturday, April 19th (9 AM-3 PM): Earth Day Expo at FVCC
Stop by our booth at the Earth Day Expo for a fun herbal-themed game, and bring the kids! It’s a free, family-friendly event featuring panels, workshops, activities, a keynote by Mariah Gladstone, and an electric vehicle showcase.
🌱 Saturday, April 26th (10 AM-12 PM): Jadam Workshop
Join us as Brad from Newflower Farm (Sandpoint, ID) introduces Jadam, a low-cost Korean farming method. In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn to make your own microbial inputs, liquid fertilizers, and organic pesticides—a great resource for regenerative growers.
🧠 Friday, May 2nd (6-8:30 PM): Brain Health Class
Lynne Ann Kogut will draw on her background in Craniosacral Therapy and Shamanism to lead a discussion on optimizing brain health. She’ll cover the effects of stress on the brain and share practical tools for building a resilient mind. SpiritWorks’ Anna Prestegaard will also present on medicinal herbs that support memory, focus, and cognition—plus, you’ll get to sample a nootropic herbal mocktail!
As spring unfolds, we’re feeling grateful for the chance to keep learning, growing, and connecting with all of you. Whether you're showing up for lectures, tuning in online, or just starting to dig your hands into the soil, we’re honored to be part of your journey. We hope these upcoming events spark inspiration and deepen your connection to the land, your health, and this incredible community. See you soon—out in the garden, in our Apothecary, at a workshop, or somewhere in between.
Warmly,
The SpiritWorks Team
